Russian-speaking professionals practicing in the Australian legal sphere. The objects of the RLAA are multifaceted.

 

One of further aims of our Association is to provide a communication platform for law students and graduates and encourage interaction with Australian practitioners. We also provide a forum for Australian and Russian lawyers.

And the winner is....

 

On 24 May 2014 the Association announced the winner of the essay competition among Russian-speaking students of law faculties in NSW on the subject of “Distinguished Russian-speaking lawyers in the history of Australia”.

 

The winner is Sergei Smirnov, a law student from the University of Technology, Sydney who wrote an essay on Alex Chernov AC QC. Mr Chernov is one of the most accomplished Russian-speaking lawyers in Australia; he has a distinguished career working as a lawyer, barrister, judge and is the current Governor in Victoria. The essay competition among Russian-speaking law students in NSW

 

Russian-speaking Lawyers Association (Australia) invites Russian-speaking students of law faculties in NSW to participate in the essay competition on the subject of “Distinguished Russian-speaking lawyers in the history of Australia”. The competition aims to challenge the students to examine the legal history of Australia and discover interesting information and facts about Russian-speaking lawyers in Australia.

 

In order to participate in the competition, please submit a short essay to the following email address: president.rlaa@gmail.com. The essay must be in Russian and not longer than 1,000 words. Please include your name and the name of your law faculty.

 

The submission deadline is 8 May 2014. The winner will be announced at the Annual Dinner of the Association on 24 May 2014 and receive a prize of $300 kindly provided by a barrister and member of our Association, Mr Serge Galitsky. Please see the details and rules in the Events section.

Who really pays for green slip reduction


The government's new no-fault CTP scheme which was debated in Parliament today will see injured motorists and their families paying for negligent drivers.

President of the Law Society, John Dobson, says anybody who uses the roads in NSW should be worried about these changes.
